Airbnb Turnover Cleaning in Regina: A Host's Checklist
A short-term rental lives or dies on its reviews, and cleanliness is the thing guests mention most. The challenge in Regina isn't usually the cleaning itself — it's the window. Checkout at 11, check-in at 3, and four hours to reset an entire unit while the prairie wind redecorates the entryway.
Build the Turnover Around the Clock
Work in a fixed order every time. A repeatable route is faster than a thorough one you improvise.
- Strip first. Linens and towels into the wash before anything else, so the machine runs while you clean.
- Open the dishwasher and start it if there's anything in it.
- Garbage and recycling out, all bins, fresh bags in.
- Kitchen, then bathroom, then bedrooms, then living area.
- Floors last, working back toward the door.
- Restock and stage, then a final walk-through.
Linens: Own Two Sets Minimum
The single biggest cause of blown turnovers is waiting on a dryer. Two full sets per bed and per bathroom means you strip, make the bed with the clean set, and deal with the laundry later.
- Check every sheet and towel in daylight before it goes back on. Stains that look faint in a dim bedroom are obvious in a photo.
- Retire anything grey, thin or pilled. Guests read worn linens as unclean even when they're not.
- Check the mattress protector every single turnover, not just when something looks wrong.
- Duvet covers get washed between guests. A folded blanket at the foot of the bed does not count as bedding.
The Kitchen
Guests open everything, so assume every surface will be inspected.
- Inside the microwave, including the ceiling of it
- Inside the fridge, including the door shelves and the crisper
- Coffee maker: rinse the carafe, empty the basket, descale periodically. Regina's hard water means scale builds fast
- Kettle: check for mineral build-up inside
- Stovetop, including under the grates
- Sink, drain and the base of the tap
- Every dish, glass and utensil put away in its spot
- Cupboard interiors spot-checked for crumbs
Leave the dishcloth situation obvious: a fresh cloth and a clean tea towel, visible.
The Bathroom
This is where a review gets written.
- Toilet, including the hinge bolts and the base
- Shower glass and tile — hard water film shows up fast in Regina, so squeegee and dry after cleaning
- Shower head, descaled when the spray starts going sideways
- Mirror, wiped streak-free
- Drain hair, every time
- Bin emptied
- Fresh towels, folded consistently
- Restock: toilet paper with a spare in sight, hand soap, shampoo
The Details Guests Notice
- Hair anywhere — the floor, the bed, the tub
- Fingerprints on glass doors, light switches and stainless appliances
- Under the bed
- The inside of the front door and the handle
- Lint in the dryer
- Dust on the TV screen and on lamp shades
- The entryway mat, especially October through spring, when Regina guests bring in mud, grit and slush
Seasonal Realities in Regina
Fall and winter turnovers take longer, so build in the time.
- Mud and grit get tracked in constantly from October until freeze-up, then salt and slush take over
- A boot tray and a coarse outdoor mat cut the work in half
- Dry furnace air means dust settles fast on hard surfaces between bookings
- A vacant unit in a cold snap needs the heat left on — a turnover is a good time to confirm the thermostat is where it should be
- Shovel the walk before check-in; it's part of the guest's first impression
Do a Final Walk-Through
Stand in the doorway of each room and look at it the way a guest arriving at 3pm would. Turn on every light. Check that the Wi-Fi card is where you say it is, the remote has batteries, and nothing from the last guest got left in a drawer.
Between Guests, and Then Deeper
Turnovers keep a unit presentable. Every so often it needs more than that: inside the oven, inside the cabinets, blinds, baseboards, behind appliances. If a unit hasn't had that kind of attention in 30 days or more, a deep clean is the right reset, and a move in / move out clean is what you want when a long-term tenant leaves or before a unit goes live for the first time.
Useful add-ons for rental units:
- Inside oven — $30
- Inside fridge — $30
- Inside cabinets — $20
- Interior windows — $30
- Wet-wipe blinds — $40
Book Turnovers with YQR Cleaning
YQR Cleaning is locally owned and has been cleaning Regina homes since 2022. Our pricing is flat-rate rather than hourly, which makes it easy to build into your nightly rate — from $120 + GST for a 1 bed / 1 bath, with each additional bathroom at $30. You can see your exact price online in about 30 seconds.
Our cleaners bring all their own supplies and are insured, bonded and background-checked.
